India & Germany: Joint transition to a low-carbon energy system?
In 2014, India announced a massive electricity sector transition, with an ambitious goal to add 175GW of renewable energy by 2022. At the same time India has become one of the most important stakeholders in the global low carbon energy debate.
The German Chancellor Merkel is expected to meet with PM Modi in New Delhi around 5-6 Oct. This heads of state level meeting will have climate and energy as one of the elements of the agenda.
The one-week workshop will involve a select group of Indian press travelling to Germany to visit on-ground projects, meet with experts, and gain a first-hand understanding of the power sector in Germany. This initiative aims to give Indian journalists an insight into how the country realised its energy transition, mainly with solar power.
The workshop is taking place in cooperation with Ecologic and our funder European Climate Foundation.
