Germany will double contribution to Green Climate Fund – minister
Clean Energy Wire
Germany will increase funding for developing countries to fight and adapt to climate change, the development minister Gerd Müller announced at a press conference in Berlin ahead of the UN climate conference in Katowice, Poland. Müller said the German government would pay another 1.5 billion euros into the UN Green Climate Fund, double the amount contributed until now. The sum is spread over a number of years, not yet precisely defined, until the fund has to be replenished. The fund supports projects on climate protection and adaptation to climate change in developing and emerging countries.
