Merkel says enormous effort needed to make coal exit a success – report

Bild

Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel has privately warned that the country’s coal exit will fail without “enormous effort,” Ralf Schuler reports for tabloid Bild. “We have to really want this,” Merkel said at a chancellery meeting about the coal commission’s phase-out proposal, participants told Bild. “If we continue on our current path, we will fail,” Merkel said, referring to the slow progress of infrastructure development such as grid extensions.
