Journalists talk business on the energy transition - GETJO19 through the eyes of a cartoonist
Mwelwa Musonko was listening, tweeting and networking along with 100 international journalists at the Global Energy Transition Journalism 2019 (GETJO19) conference, but he was also observing how the journalists interacted with one another. This cartoon is inspired by a team of finalists for the second CLEW grant to report cross-border business-related energy transition stories. Their catchy name is: ‘TEAM PANIC’ (which stands for the journalists’ countries of origin: Pakistan, Nepal, India and China).
Meeting at the Global Climate Action Summit in the United States in 2018, the four journalists formed a walking group, where they brainstormed the story idea that eventually won them one of three CLEW grants. In the cartoon, characters inspired by this team and others are set at the GETJO19 conference coffee break.
In 2018, Mwelwa joined CLEW on the Horst-Köhler-Journalism-Grant of the International Journalism Programme (IJP). Look out for more of his work in upcoming CLEW publications, and here.
