Alternative fuel cars on growth path – dena

Alternative fuel passenger cars are benefitting from declining sales in new diesel cars, German Energy Agency (dena) says in a report. The first three quarters of 2018 saw the number of new registrations of electric, hybrid and cars powered by natural gas rise by 60.8 percent compared to the same period in 2017. At the same time, new diesel car registrations fell by 20.7 percent. Average CO2 emissions of newly registered passenger cars increased in 2018 due to higher sales in the SUV and off-road vehicle segments.
