Mild weather bridles German energy use in 2014
Mild weather in Germany has curbed energy use for heating so far this year and should result in a 5 per cent drop in primary energy usage for 2014 – hitting the lowest level on record since German unification in 1990, according to the statistical research group AG Energiebilanzen. Energy usage in the first nine months dropped 6.7 per cent, with considerable reductions in fossil fuels and a slight increase in renewables. This should result in lower CO2 emissions for the year, the group predicts.
