A Swedish court on Thursday (24 October) gave the green light to begin construction on a nuclear waste repository where spent fuel will be buried for up to 100,000 years. The project would make Sweden one of the first countries in the world, along with Finland, to bury its spent atomic fuel for that length of time in a bid to solve the long-running question of what to do with nuclear waste.
