IEA: Growth in global energy demand surged in 2024 to almost twice its recent average

IEA’s Global Energy Review is the first global assessment of 2024 trends across the energy sector. Based on the most recent data, it covers energy demand, supply, the uptake of new energy technologies and energy-related carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.

Reuters: Paris residents vote in favour of making 500 more streets pedestrian

The referendum with a low voter turnout of 4 percent is set to eliminate 10,000 more parking spots in Paris. The city's two million residents will be consulted on which streets will become pedestrian areas. This was the third such referendum in Paris in as many years, following a 2023 vote that approved a ban on e-scooters, and a decision last year to triple parking charges for large SUVs.

European Commission: Commission approves €5 billion German State aid scheme to help industries decarbonise production processes

The scheme notified by Germany is aimed at helping the German industry reduce carbon dioxide (‘CO2') emissions in their production processes thanks to technologies such as electrification, hydrogen, carbon capture and storage (‘CCS'), carbon capture and use (‘CCU'), and energy efficiency measures.
